Given the continuing Covid pandemic and the new Delta and MU variants, while some events are doing their best to open and operate safely, others are still postponing and cancelling, and everyone is looking cautiously at the months and year ahead, from both a health safety and financial sustainability viewpoint. Globally, and locally, ‘uncertainty’ is still very much the operative word for our industry.

To best assist the industry, the sharing of information between professional peers – in lieu of any ‘best practices’ – is still the most valuable resource we can provide. To that end, we are pleased to present our Covid Revisited - Where Are We Now? Webinar Series - a revisitation of the Covid panel Webinars that we presented at the beginning of the pandemic in 2020, giving a current look at how some of our original presenters and others have handled/approached things since that time; what has worked and what hasn’t; their greatest stress points (then and now); most valuable lessons learned; and how they plan (tentatively) to approach the future.

As a result of COVID-19, there are lots of questions you will find yourself asking for the first time. "I work back of house close to other people, so if I get sick, can I sue?" "Can our ushers eject a patron who stands too close to other people in line?" "Does someone who looks sick have a right to come in?" We will address these and many more practical legal questions about how to reopen in a reasonably safe and healthy way.

KDF's COVID-19 Event Plan: Attempting to Produce SOMETHING Again
July 22, 2020 Webinar
IFEA Member Access - Log-In to View Recording

The Kentucky Derby Festival recently made the difficult decision to completely cancel our large events, even after rescheduling them from our normal April timeframe. While we have been busy trying to retain sponsorships and provide unique ways to engage the community during the lead-up to the Derby on September 5, we still wanted to be able to try and responsibly produce a live event. After analyzing our schedule, we decided to give Tour de Lou a shot. It’s a 800 person bicycling event scheduled for Sunday, August 30. The construction of a written plan, as required by Governor Andy Beshear, concluded with comprehensive 5 page document that was submitted for approval. I will review the process for writing that plan and hopefully provide you with a framework to help begin the process of trying to do what we do so well again!

In the midst of the new COVID-19 world that we find ourselves in, many working from home and safe-distancing a key priority, the way we communicate has changed as well. ‘Zoom’ calls and meetings have become an accepted part of our days. But as important as our ability to communicate effectively has become, most of us are still pretty much operating in the ‘Brady Bunch’ screen mode level when it comes to our understanding of the Zoom calls and meetings that we participate in. This important webinar will show you some of the many other tools, features and options that you have at your fingertips with Zoom. Learn how you might use these applications to upgrade your own meetings and calls and how to maximize your participation in those hosted by others. If we are going to be in this recovery phase for the foreseeable future, we should at least maximize our capabilities!
