Virtual Volunteering: The Game-Changer That’s Here to Stay

Isabel Reed
Sales Coordinator
VolunteerLocal
Des Moines, IA

In recent decades, our lives have become increasingly digitized. Physical storefronts now require an accompanying website, and organizations of all kinds similarly require some form of an online presence to reach and grow their audiences. Now, even volunteering has found a digital path forward, with “virtual volunteering”. While some volunteer coordinators embrace the change, others are skeptical. In this webinar, we will start with an introduction to virtual volunteering, then round out the presentation with a deeper dive into the impacts of virtual volunteering, tactics to verify or quantify a volunteer’s virtual engagement, and strategies to leverage virtual volunteers for your upcoming festivals and events.

After graduating from the University of Iowa in 2018, Isabel was thrilled for the opportunity to work in Operations at VolunteerLocal - a volunteer management software company that helps organizations of all sizes with volunteer scheduling, tracking, and management. Over the years, the position has allowed Isabel to grow and explore their passions for innovative technology, community enrichment, and genuine relationship building. Most days, you can find them enthusiastically supporting event coordinators in final preparations - or pridefully hovering over a growing number of houseplants.
